What a magnificent discovery!

Organized by Maison Chaumet, the "Végétal" exhibition pays homage to the living world, celebrating the infinite diversity of its forms, structures, textures, and colors.

The exhibition seeks to restore plants to their central and historic role in representing the world. This botanical journey prompts us to reconsider our modern-day neglect of observing and describing plants, and their timeless, universal, and fragile beauty.

"The eye, called the window of the soul, is the principal means through which our intellect can fully and magnificently appreciate the infinite works of nature" (Leonardo da Vinci)

Velvety petals, radiant corollas, golden stamens-flowers fascinate, seduce, and inspire us.

Appearing in the evolutionary history of plants over 200 million years ago, flowers, as their reproductive organs, revolutionized plant life.

Their shapes, textures, and infinite palette of colors have been transposed into every symbolic, political, and artistic realm.

Yet, in cherishing the flower, humanity has forgotten the plant itself, losing sight of the fact that the flower is but a fleeting element of it. Flowers exist to attract, wither, and then disappear.

"Keep walking and nurture in yourself a love of nature; it is the best way to learn all that is essential to the essence of art" (Vincent Van Gogh "Letter to his brother Theo")

"All things near or far, in a hidden way, are connected to one another by an immortal power, so that you cannot pick a flower without disturbing a star" (Francis Thompson "The mistress of vision")
