Exposition "Le grand numéro de Chanel"

Chanel is doing its big number around its 5 perfumes!

I had the opportunity to discover this superb exhibition last December at the ephemeral Grand Palais in Paris.

The principle ? 5 different rooms around 5 Chanel perfumes: n° 5, Chance, Bleu, Coco Mademoiselle and Les exclus de Chanel. An immersive and olfactory journey for perfumery enthusiasts.

A marching band greets visitors entering the white and black circus tent, decorated with lions, perfume bottles and playing cards.

At n° 5, the visitor discovers the room and puts himself in the shoes of Ernest Beaux, the creator of the mythical perfume.

Number designating the sample selected by Gabrielle Chanel from among ten olfactory proposals, 5 is both a number and a symbol. In a community of spirit with the avant-gardes of abstraction, Chanel chose to make it the name of its first perfume, which it thus propels towards the universal and the timeless. 

The success of the olfactory enigma desired by Gabrielle Chanel, of which neither the form nor the name were to define the smell, remains. This perfume, which retains its mystery, leaves everyone free to imagine their own representation, to transpose it to their time or culture.

We then enter the Chance room where we can try our luck by turning the wheel of fortune and leave with some gifts.

Then, we discover the modern city of Bleu de Chanel, a very masculine universe.

We enter the Character Gallery. Les Exclusifs de Chanel is a perfume collection that embodies the Chanel brand in the name of a spirit present everywhere in the history of the House, and without which there is no possible conquest: character.

In the Gallery of Characters, we wonder, we walk around, we discover ourselves and we implicitly define the characteristics specific to the 18 fragrances that make up the collection.

The last room to discover is devoted to the world of Mademoiselle Coco. A young universe out of time.
